A big rout for Michigan at the Legends Classic in Brooklyn 17 points by Jett Howard led them to a 91-60 victory over Pitt with 4 players in double figures, including guard Kobe Bufkin. The Wolverines now advance to the Winners game vs Arizona State tonight.

A snow bowl in Mount Pleasant ended with Western Michigan beating Central Michigan with a safety and a field goal in the final 4 minutes to win 12-10 and take back the Victory Cannon trophy. The frigid game featured 11 punts, two missed field goals, and two total touchdowns which were 19 seconds apart in the opening quarter.

Also, Eastern Michigan earned their 7th win of the year with a 31-24 victory on the road to Kent State.

The Red Wings and the Pistons return to the ice and the hardwood again tonight. Both have road games with the Wings facing San Jose and the Pistons traveling to Los Angeles to face the Clippers. Both game times are at 10:30 p.m.

And in baseball, former Tiger, Justin Verlander, wins the Cy Young award for the American League. It was unanimous after posting a 1.75 ERA and 18 wins for the Astros at the age of 39. This is the 3rd Cy Young Award of Verlander’s career. He now joins Sandy Koufax, Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer, Pedro Martinez, Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer, who all have three. The only pitchers with more are Steve Carlton and Greg Maddux with 4, Randy Johnson with 5 and Roger Clemens with 7.
