For the 15th time coach Tom Izzo has led the Spartans into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament beating 2-seed Marquette in Columbus, 69-60. Up next, the Spartans play Kansas State at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.
Over to pro basketball, the Pistons lost to Miami, 112-100 their 8th straight loss on the road. Their next game will be against Atlanta tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
The Red Wings lost over the weekend, this time to Colorado, 5-1. Detroit’s record now falls to 30-29-9 and they have another game tonight, against the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m.
In College Hockey, in their 100th season, Michigan beat Minnesota on Saturday, 4-3, for their second straight Big Ten Tournament Title. Michigan also earned a No.1 seed for the NCAA tournament.
In baseball, the Tigers lost both of the weekend Spring Training games. They lost to St. Louis, 8-4, on Saturday and to Washington, 2-1 on Sunday. Detroit only has 8 games left before Opening Day. Their next game will be against Toronto today at about 1 p.m.
Finally, another big addition for the Lions. They added former Eagles safety CJ Gardner Johnson in free agency on a 1-year deal.
